In 2008, our story began with a single conviction: music has the power to change lives. That year, the Powell Academy of Music opened in a small storefront in historic downtown Powell, Ohio. The space was modest, but it held something far greater, a belief that every student carries potential waiting to be discovered.

From the very first lesson, our purpose was never simply to teach scales, songs, and technique. We set out to build a place where students could grow in confidence, develop discipline, express themselves creatively, and feel the deep satisfaction that comes from mastering something that matters.

Word traveled. As families shared their experiences with neighbors and friends, our community grew. We were fortunate to attract a team of gifted, devoted instructors who believed in the same vision. Before long, every studio was full and our little school had reached capacity.

In 2014, we moved into a 5,000-square-foot facility built to welcome more students and open new doors for musical growth. With 18 private studios and dedicated group classrooms, we expanded into children's choirs, early childhood music education, workshops, recitals, and performance opportunities. What had begun as a small studio was becoming a thriving musical community.

The response from families moved us to keep growing. In June 2017, we opened the Lewis Center Music Academy. The excitement was extraordinary. Within 60 days, more than 100 students had enrolled, confirming what we had always believed: families were searching for a school that cared as deeply about the student as it did about the music.

In 2020, we opened the Hilliard Music Academy, bringing our approach to more families across Central Ohio. In 2022, we welcomed First Choice Music Studio into our family and reintroduced it as the Dublin Music Academy.

Today, thousands of students have passed through our doors. Some have gone on to study music at top universities, perform with symphonies and become major label artists. Others discovered a hobby they will love for life. Many found something rarer still, the courage to perform in front of others, the perseverance to push through what once felt impossible, and the quiet pride of accomplishing what they never thought they could.

Our schools have grown. Our purpose has not. Every lesson, every recital, every achievement is guided by the same belief that started it all. Music is among the most powerful tools we have for helping people grow into the best version of themselves.

That is why we exist: to inspire students to discover their potential through music.
